Savonlinna Opera Festival in July 2026 at Olavinlinna Castle
The musical highlight
The performances take place at the medieval Olavinlinna Castle, located on a small island in the Saimaa lake district and connected to the city by bridges. The opera evening takes place in the castle courtyard under the open sky. You can choose your favourite opera: ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on 3 or 25 July 2026, “Nabucco” by Giuseppe Verdi on 11 July 2026 or ‘La Traviata’ by Giuseppe Verdi on 31 July 2026.

The city is located in the heart of the Saimaa lake district. Before the opera evening, take a stroll along the waterfront promenade,
past wooden jetties and boat moorings, over the small bridges to Riihisaari Island and on to Olavinlinna Castle.
From the Nature Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän, you can reach Linnansaari National Park with its lakeside paths and viewpoints in just a few minutes. Alternatively, the panoramic road leads over the Punkaharju ridge through pine forest and over narrow ridges that accompany the lake on the left and right.

The resort is located directly on Lake Saimaa and Linnansaari National Park, about 55 kilometres from Savonlinna. Modern suites and chalets, a spa with warm pools and sauna, plus a restaurant serving regional cuisine.
Panoramic double room
The large panoramic windows offer views of the forest. The interior design is Nordic in style with warm woods and fine textures.
The room offers a spacious king-size bed, a small kitchenette for morning tea, a mini fridge and a modern bathroom.
The highlight is the private sauna in the room, ideal for unwinding after an evening at the opera.
On the day of the Savonlinna Opera Festival, you will travel by boat from Järvisydän across Lake Saimaa, enjoy a three-course meal on board and arrive directly at the medieval Olavinlinna Castle. After the performance, a bus will take you back to the resort in comfort.
