Every summer, Aix-en-Provence becomes one of the most important meeting places for the international world of opera and music.

The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence 2027 takes place from 1 to 20 July. Since its foundation in 1948, the festival has brought opera, concerts and new productions to a variety of venues across Aix-en-Provence.

An evening at the opera or a concert can be wonderfully combined with excursions to Arles, Avignon, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence or the Mediterranean coast.

Once the festival programme has been published, we will select a suitable opera performance or a special concert for your trip.

We will decide together with you which performance best suits your travel plans.

Discover Aix-en-Provence
Paul Cézanne was born in Aix. He found inspiration in the distinctive light of Provence, a light that still gives the region its special atmosphere today. In 1902, he established his studio at Les Lauves above the town.

A lovely way to start the day is at the daily market on Place Richelme, right in the heart of the old town.

Afterwards, the Fondation Vasarely is well worth a visit and provides an interesting contrast to the historic centre.

Inside its striking building, the foundation presents the work of Victor Vasarely, regarded as the father of Op Art, with large-scale geometric works, vivid areas of colour and immersive installations.

During the festival, the wooden doors of the Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède open onto a shaded courtyard. This 18th-century townhouse becomes an atmospheric open-air concert venue. If you would like to experience a concert here, we can reserve seats for you.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Baux-de-Provence

In Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, you can visit Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the former monastery where Vincent van Gogh lived and worked.

Nearby are Les Baux-de-Provence and the Carrières des Lumières. In this former quarry, large-scale digital art exhibitions are projected onto the towering rock walls.

Arles and the Camargue

Arles combines Roman history with contemporary art. Alongside the amphitheatre and Saint-Trophime, LUMA Arles with its tower designed by Frank Gehry is well worth a visit.

Château La Coste

North of Aix-en-Provence lies Château La Coste. Across the extensive wine estate, you can discover contemporary art and striking architecture by international artists and architects among the vineyards.

Boutique Hôtel Cézanne

Boutique Hôtel Cézanne is a good choice if you are looking for the atmosphere of a private townhouse.

The hotel has been part of the city for around 100 years and is centrally located, only about a five-minute walk from the Cours Mirabeau.

It is ideal if you would like to explore Aix on foot and walk to the festival in the evening.

The Deluxe Rooms measure 22 m² and feature a king-size bed.

The hotel also has a lovely terrace where you can start the day with breakfast.

Le Relais de Saint Ser

You stay at the foot of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire in Puyloubier, with wide views and numerous walking trails nearby.

The hotel sits among olive trees against a dramatic rocky backdrop, and the centre of Aix-en-Provence is around 30 minutes away by car.

From the Superior Double Room with Terrace, you can start the day with views of the mountains. The room is compact and simply furnished.

Grand Hôtel Roi René

The hotel is located on Boulevard du Roi René, only around 300 metres from the Cours Mirabeau. It has a terrace with an outdoor swimming pool.

At the restaurant ‘La Table du Roi’, you can try Provençal cuisine, and there is also a fitness room.

The Superior Room with Pool View measures 23 m² and features a queen-size bed.

Facilities include a Nespresso machine, minibar, air conditioning and bathrobes.

The Théâtre de l’Archevêché is around 1 km away on foot, and the old town begins practically around the corner.

You can spend the whole week in Aix-en-Provence or plan a few additional days to explore the surrounding region.

Car Hire Recommendation
A hire car is particularly useful if you choose Le Relais de Saint Ser at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire, as the drive into the centre of Aix-en-Provence takes around 30 minutes.

If you stay in the city, at Boutique Hôtel Cézanne or the Grand Hôtel Roi René, a car is not essential, although it can be very convenient for day trips through Provence.

Collection at Marseille Provence Airport or Aix-en-Provence TGV station is particularly practical, depending on how you travel.
