Bayreuth - Germany

Baroque opera in the Margravial Opera House

Bayreuth is renowned for the Margravial Opera House, one of Europe’s finest surviving Baroque theatres.

Since 2012 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site and provides an exceptional setting for top-level opera performances.

The Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2026 takes place from 4 to 13 September 2026 and focuses on Baroque opera, with staged productions and concert evenings in historic venues across Bayreuth. At the heart of the festival is a new production of George Frideric Handel’s Floridante at the Margravial Opera House on 4 September 2026. The production is staged by Max Emanuel Cencic, with Markellos Chryssicos as musical director.

Until 13 September 2026, performances take place at several venues in Bayreuth, including the Margravial Opera House, Bayreuth Castle Church and other locations in the city. We reserve the most suitable festival dates and tickets for you subject to availability.
