Berlin - Germany

German Symphony Orchestra Berlin at the Philharmonie on 1 March 2026

The musical highlight

On 1 March 2026, you can experience a special concert with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin conducted by Eun Sun Kim in the Great Hall of the Philharmonie Berlin. The programme includes Howard Swanson's ‘Short Symphony’, which was awarded the prize for best orchestral work in 1952.

This will be followed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sinfonia concertante in E flat major, K. 297b, for four woodwinds, reconstructed by Robert D. Levin. The solo parts will be performed by Kornelia Brandkamp (flute), Viola Wilmsen (oboe), Bora Demir (horn)

and Jörg Petersen (bassoon). The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 1 in C minor, a work that is still considered a milestone in orchestral literature and rounds off the evening in impressive style.

Discover Berlin: Philharmonic Hall and a hidden gem

In addition to the Philharmonic Hall, we recommend a venue that even many Berliners are unaware of and which is ideal for a concert evening in winter. On one of the other evenings of your stay, visit the Piano Salon Christophori, a unique combination of workshop and small concert hall in the Uferhallen in Berlin-Wedding. Sit on simple chairs in the middle of the room, surrounded by restored grand pianos, while chamber music is played. It feels more like a private salon evening than a classical concert and is a lovely contrast to the large stage of the Philharmonie.
