Cellist Giovanni Sollima and trumpeter Paolo Fresu in concert – that alone promises an extraordinary evening.
On 11 May 2026, the two will present their new project ‘FS. In viaggio’ at the Teatro Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna under the motto ‘Sconfinate Armonie’ – boundless harmonies.
‘FS’ – these are not only the initials of Paolo Fresu and Giovanni Sollima, but also the abbreviation for Italian Railways. Appropriate, as the two take the audience on a musical train journey. Paolo Fresu from Sardinia and Giovanni Sollima from Sicily. Two islands, two characters, two instruments that come together under the sign of travel.
The concert premieres in Bologna. What will they bring to the stage? Jazz meets baroque melodies, Mediterranean sounds meet African rhythms.

Bologna has three nicknames, and all three say a lot about the city: La Grassa – the fat one, because of its legendary cuisine.
La Dotta – the learned one, thanks to the oldest university in Europe. And La Rossa – the red one, because of the warm brick and terracotta façades that characterise the cityscape everywhere.
The city is perfect for strolling. Under endless arcades, past medieval towers and through winding alleys.
