Cape Town - South Africa
Cape Town & Music in South Africa
South Africa is a dream destination for anyone who wants to combine extraordinary concerts, fascinating landscapes and culinary experiences. Between mid-January and April in particular, Cape Town and the surrounding area offer a wealth of musical highlights.
Highlights of the music scene
- The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra opens the year with three symphony concerts on 15, 22 and 29 January 2026.
- From 12 to 15 February 2026, chamber music concerts will take place in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands district – in the heart of the picturesque wine region.
- In March, an international piano symposium will take place in Stellenbosch, featuring Bulgarian pianists Ludmil Angelov and Emanuil Ivanov.
- From 13 January to 25 March 2026, you can enjoy a regular concert series every Tuesday and Thursday at St. George's Cathedral.
- A special highlight is the Maynardville Open Air Shakespeare Festival, which takes place from 13 January to the end of February 2026 and combines theatre with music in the open air.
- For private, exclusive experiences, we can organise soirées on request in the workshop of Ian Burgess, South Africa's leading piano restorer. Look forward to a very special evening with a local or international pianist.
