Opera Trip to Lake Como: ‘Un ballo in maschera’ by Giuseppe Verdi 15 January 2027

The musical highlight

On 15 January 2027 at 8 pm, you will attend a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera ‘Un ballo in maschera’ at the Teatro Sociale di Como.

The Teatro Sociale presents a new production directed by Roberto Catalano, with musical direction by Andrea Solinas.

For his production, Roberto Catalano sets the action in an opera house, drawing on both the history of the opera’s premiere at the former Teatro Apollo in Rome and the historical events surrounding the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden.

The performance features the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali and the Coro OperaLombardia.

Discover Como

The city of Como is lively and very elegant. Como Cathedral, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, is situated right next to the Teatro Sociale and is one of the city’s most important buildings.

A little tip for your stroll through Como: visit the Beretta Il Fornaio bakery in the centre and ask for La Nuvola. This soft, brioche-like pastry with apricot filling is a sweet speciality from Como and goes wonderfully with an espresso as a mid-morning treat.

Take the funicular to Brunate, above Como, and enjoy the sweeping views of the town, the lake and the mountains.
