Scottish Opera at the Theatre Royal Glasgow
‘The Great Wave’on 14 February 2026
The musical highlight
On 14 February 2026, you can see ‘The Great Wave’, the new opera by Dai Fujikura based on a text by Harry Ross, at the Theatre Royal Glasgow. The starting point is Hokusai's famous woodcut ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’, which provides the framework for contemporary musical theatre with clear visual imagery.
Discover Glasgow
Glasgow is a vibrant cultural city.
The Riverside Museum is located on the River Clyde, Glasgow's main waterway and former lifeline of the shipyards. The museum showcases Glasgow's transport and industrial history and links it to the shipbuilding era on the Clyde.
Since 2024, you can easily reach the opposite side via the new foot and cycle bridge between Partick (a West End district on the northern bank of the Clyde) and Govan (southern bank, traditional shipbuilding district). This makes a walk along the waterfront particularly pleasant.
If you like contemporary art, stop by Trongate 103 in the Merchant City, an open house with studios, print workshops and changing exhibitions, or stroll through Hidden Lane in Finnieston, where around a hundred creative studios enliven backyards and alleys.
A nice stop is Mackintosh at the Willow. In the original tearooms from 1903 on Sauchiehall Street, you can experience restored details and a lot of Glasgow at its finest.
