The 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic will perform their New Year’s Concert at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on 4 January 2027.
Twelve cellos, the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie, and a programme that moves between classical music, jazz, tango and film music. The programme in Hamburg includes works by Maurice Ravel, Michel Legrand, Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzolla, amongst others.
This is no ordinary orchestral concert. Here, twelve cellists demonstrate just how much can be packed into a single instrument: classical music, jazz, tango, film music and a programme that defies categorisation.
