Musical theatre festival at Beeskow Castle
‘A Night in the Bee Wagon’
from 3 to 5 September 2026
Two nights in the wonderful ‘Bienenwagen’ near Heidesee Esel and an evening of drama and music in the courtyard of Beeskow Castle: this short break combines peaceful days in the countryside with opera arias and Italian humour.
The musical highlight
The Oper Oder Spree musical theatre festival is bringing ‘Amore, pasta, vino e basta!’, a staged opera performance, to Beeskow Castle. The historic castle courtyard provides the perfect setting for this summery evening of opera.
The soloists Ana Vidmar, Laurenzia Kampa, Rahela Ujevic, Daniel Wendler and Martin Trømborg will perform during this evening.
Snezana Nena Brzakovic is the artistic director, whilst Evgeny Nikiforov is the musical director.

Your hideaway is a lovingly converted bee wagon on a farm in Heidesee OT Streganz, surrounded by meadows, donkeys and lakes.
A real feeling of nature, without WiFi or television, but with plenty of space to switch off and relax. Inside, it is small, cosy and practical:
a compact kitchenette with cooking utensils, even spices, coffee and tea are provided. Books about bees, donkeys and nature are available, as well as outdoor blankets for the evenings outside the door.
Donkey experience as a Music Travel Hideaways Special
We will reserve either a donkey hike or a donkey cuddle session for you directly at the donkey farm.
The tour starts at the farm. Each donkey has its own pack saddle, in which you can stow your own picnic and drinks.
After a short briefing, you will get to know ‘your’ donkey, brush and halter it, and then set off on a relaxed walk along quiet forest and meadow paths. Alternatively, you can enjoy a lovely cuddle session with plenty of time for stroking, brushing and observing.
We will coordinate the date and schedule with your host Nicole.
Dogs are welcome, by the way.

from €240 per person for 2 people sharing in the bee wagon
from €390 for single occupancy in the bee wagon
plus €50 for final cleaning, including towels and bed linen

Your individual journey
Heidesee is about an hour’s drive from Berlin.
From the ‘Bienenwagen’ in Streganz, the journey to Beeskow Castle takes around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
After the performance ends at around 10.00 pm, you will make your own way back to the ‘Bienenwagen’.
Travelling by car is the most flexible option for this concert evening. On request, we can organise a hire car or arrange a private transfer.
