Forward 2026 and Summer Festival 2027

The Lucerne Festival brings international orchestras, renowned conductors and soloists to Lucerne every year. At the heart of the festival is KKL Luzern, located directly on Lake Lucerne, complemented by other venues across the city.

Lucerne Festival Forward 2026
From 20 to 22 November 2026, Lucerne Festival Forward explores how Robert Schumann’s music continues to resonate today under the title ‘Echoes of Schumann’. For the first time, Jörg Widmann is curating the autumn festival for contemporary music.

The festival opens on 20 November with Jörg Widmann, Antoine Tamestit and Sir András Schiff performing works by Schumann, Kurtág and Widmann in the KKV Chamber Music Hall in Vitznau.

On 21 November, Fatma Said, Matthias Goerne, Christian Jost and Jörg Widmann are among the artists appearing with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra in the KKL Luzern Concert Hall. Later that evening, pianist Johanna Summer presents the Late Night ‘Echo ‹Dichterliebe›’. The audience will not only be seated in the hall, but partly on the stage and in the organ loft as well.

On 22 November, Jörg Widmann explores Schumann’s influence on contemporary music in a lecture at the piano. The festival closes with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, the SWR Vokalensemble and Heinz Holliger performing works by Schumann, Reimann, Kurtág and Holliger.

We can already begin planning your trip for summer 2027. Lucerne Festival Summer 2027 will take place from 12 August to 12 September 2027.

The full programme will be published in early 2027. Before then, it is already worth reserving suitable hotels in Lucerne or on Lake Lucerne.
