Lucerne Festival 2026

The Lucerne Festival 2026 in Lucerne will accompany the musical year with several classical music festivals. International orchestras, renowned conductors and celebrated soloists will gather in the city on Lake Lucerne at the KKL Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre, the concert hall directly on the lake, and at other venues. The Summer Festival will take place from 13 August to 13 September 2026.

Lucerne’s charming old town, the Chapel Bridge and the unique view of the lake are just some of the sights you can explore during your stay. Stroll through the cobbled streets and experience Swiss hospitality over an aperitif.

The start of the summer festival is particularly special: on 14 August 2026, the opening concert of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra with Riccardo Chailly will be broadcast live to the lakeside. At the “Lakeside Symphony”, you can enjoy the concert on a big screen at the Inseli, a small park area right by Lake Lucerne. The programme features works by Steve Reich, George Gershwin and Charles Ives.

At the end of August, the festival also moves out into the city. From 25 to 30 August 2026, “In the Streets: City Stage” will bring music to Lucerne’s old town. Performances will take place at Kapellplatz, the Weinmarkt and the Schirmerturm on the Museggmauer, Lucerne’s historic city wall, amongst other venues.

In addition to the musical highlights, the Lucerne region offers breathtaking natural beauty. A boat trip across Lake Lucerne, a cable car ride up Mount Pilatus or hikes through the surrounding mountain landscapes offer the perfect complement to your visit to the festival.
