Omani Night at the Royal Opera House Muscat

The journey takes you from Muscat along the coast via Sur to the Wahiba Desert, on to the mountains of Jabal Akhdar
and the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Oman at Jabal Shams, then back to Muscat. You will stay in first-class accommodation and in an exclusive glamping camp under the starry sky of the desert.

Omani Night on 12 December 2025 at the Royal Opera House Muscat
The focus is on Sayyid Khalid, composer and producer of more than 200 songs over four decades. In 2004, he became vice-chairman of the Omani Song Festival. Together with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and selected singers, you will experience an evening that showcases the breadth of Omani music, from traditional to contemporary.

6 December 2025 – Muscat
Arrival in Muscat, private transfer to the hotel. Check-in at the Kempinski Muscat including breakfast.
7 December 2025 – Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Tiwi, Sur
Guided day with your private driver and guide on the coast, daily distance approx. 400 kilometres. Stop at Bimmah Sinkhole, a natural limestone crater filled with turquoise waters of the sea. Continue along Wadi Tiwi, one of the most beautiful dry valleys in the country. In Sur, visit the traditional dhow shipyard. In the afternoon, continue to the entrance of the Wahiba Desert. Overnight stay at Oman Perfect Journeys Glamping with half board.

8 December 2025 – Mudayrib, Nizwa, Birkat Al Mauz, Jabal Akhdar
Daily distance approx. 260 kilometres. Stop in the oasis village of Mudayrib with its mud-brick buildings and falaj irrigation system. In Nizwa, visit the souq and the mighty fort with its 30-metre-high round tower. Continue to Birkat Al Mauz, a mud village with date plantations and aflaj, the traditional, sometimes centuries-old water channels that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Oman. Continue to the Jabal Akhdar mountains. Overnight stay at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, including half board.
9 December 2025 – Discover Jabal Akhdar
Time for the high plateau: the abandoned mountain village of Wadi Bani Habib, the small mountain village of Sujrah and views from the Saiq Plateau. Depending on the season, roses bloom here or pomegranates are harvested. Overnight stay at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, including half board.
10 December 2025 – Al Hamra, rock pools near Ibri, tombs of Wadi Al Ayn, Jabal Shams
Visit Al Hamra with the Bait Al Safa museum house. Continue to the tombs of Wadi Al Ayn on rocky hilltops. In the afternoon enjoy the view at Jabal Shams, often called the ‘Grand Canyon of Oman’. Overnight stay at The View Jabal Shams, including half board.
11 December 2025 – Bilad Sayt, Wadi Bani Awf, Nakhal, Muscat
Daily distance of approximately 400 kilometres across the western Hajar Mountains. Photo stop in the village of Bilad Sayt with terraced fields and date palms, continuing through Wadi Bani Awf with its striking rock faces. In Nakhal, visit the fort and the hot springs in the oasis. Return to Muscat. Overnight stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat, including breakfast.
12 December 2025 – Muscat and Royal Opera House
Free time. In the evening, visit the Royal Opera House Muscat. Transfers included. Overnight stay at the Mandarin Oriental, including breakfast.
13 December 2025 – Muscat
City tour of Muscat: including the exterior of the Grand Mosque of Sultan Qaboos, Mutrah Fish Market, Corniche, Souq. Overnight stay at the Mandarin Oriental, including breakfast.
14 December 2025 – Departure
Private transfer to the airport and return flight.
