Neuruppin is Fontane's town.
Your first point of reference is the Fontane House with the Löwen Apotheke, where Theodor Fontane was born; even though the house is now private, it's worth taking a look at the façade and the golden lion. Afterwards, you will almost automatically be drawn towards the water. Lake Ruppin is nearby, and the promenade is ideal for a stroll. And if you feel like following Fontane a little further, take some time the next day for a short Fontane city tour through the alleys.
