Nice - France

La Traviata premiere on 29 May 2026

at the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur

The musical highlight

On 29 May 2026, attend the premiere of Verdi's La Traviata at the Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur. A premiere evening is always something very special. The Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur is a historic venue with around 1,000 seats. Andrea Sanguineti will conduct and Silvia Paoli will direct.

Discover Nice

Stroll between the Promenade des Anglais, the seafront promenade, Place Masséna and the old town. In the morning, visit the market on Cours Saleya, and in the afternoon, head to the Colline du Château with its sweeping views over the Baie des Anges, the wide bay of Nice.

If you like music history, take time to visit the Palais Lascaris on Rue Droite: a 17th-century city palace, now a fine museum of musical instruments with a large collection of historical instruments. A quiet, very fitting start to your evening at the opera. Before the performance, enjoy an aperitif overlooking the sea, for example at Le Plongeoir, a restaurant built on the pillars of an old diving tower.

It's only a few minutes back to the city by taxi.

Excursion tips

For a half-day trip, we recommend Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat with the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. The villa is located on a narrow peninsula surrounded by gardens. On the way back, it's worth stopping at the harbour in Villefranche-sur-Mer for a coffee.

Take the train to Antibes. From the station, you can walk directly to the old town. The Musée Picasso is located in the Château Grimaldi above the city walls with a view of the harbour. Ideally, spend a quiet morning in the museum, then stroll along the promenade and through the alleys around the Marché Provençal before returning to Nice at a leisurely pace.
