Carmen’ with Israel Galván

1–3 October 2026 in the Madetoja Hall. The production combines Bizet’s music with the choreography of flamenco dancer Israel Galván. Featuring Oulu Sinfonia, Niina Keitel, Timothy Richards and Mieskuoro Huutajat.

“Beyond the Sky” and Lumo Art & Tech
“Beyond the Sky” will be performed at the Ouluhalli from 19 to 21 November 2026. Lauri Porra’s new composition will be combined with astrophotographs by Jukka-Pekka Metsävainio. The wider Lumo Art & Tech Festival runs from 13 to 22 November.

Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra
On 2 December 2026 in the Madetoja Hall. The ‘Big Band Holidays’ programme also features singers Catherine Russell and Georgia Heers.

Air Guitar World Championships 2026

The Air Guitar World Championships have been held annually in Oulu since 1996. From 26 to 29 August 2026, participants from all over the world will compete against each other with invisible guitars.

The event is a combination of show, competition and pop culture with a clear message that the organiser has been emphasising for years: Make Air, Not War.

The event is known worldwide and attracts an audience from many countries every year.

Oulu lies between the Baltic Sea and the taiga, a city at the mouth of the Oulujoki River. In June, the sun hardly sets, while in winter, ice reigns supreme. Both sides have their charm.
