‘Un Violon sur le Sable’ festival

At ‘Un Violon sur le Sable’, a large symphony orchestra performs right on the Plage de la Grande Conche in Royan.

Over several summer evenings, the programme features classical music, opera, film scores, jazz and other musical surprises.

The orchestra is accompanied by international singers and dancers.

The dates for 2027 have not yet been announced. As soon as the new concert evenings are confirmed, we’ll be the first to let you know here.

Traditionally, these major concerts can be enjoyed free of charge from the beach. Many visitors bring a blanket or a beach chair and secure a spot as early as the afternoon.

Behind the free beach areas, numbered grandstand seats are available. These offer a raised view of the stage and allow you to arrive later. As soon as ticket sales for the next festival edition begin, we’ll reserve the available seats for you.

Royan, a charming coastal town on the French Atlantic coast, was recognised as one of the best festival destinations at the Heavent Festival Awards. As well as the music, the region invites you to relax and enjoy its extensive beaches and typical French savoir-vivre. Alongside the major beach concerts, the festival organises further performances under the name ‘Un Violon sur la Ville’. In recent years, these have included piano recitals, dance, chamber music and concerts in unusual venues.
