Salzburg 2027 - Here is where the music plays

Salzburg offers an exceptional range of festivals, opera performances and concerts.

Look forward to special musical experiences in a city where music plays an extraordinary role throughout the year.

Mozart Week opens Salzburg’s cultural year around Mozart’s birthday. The Salzburg Easter Festival follows in spring, while the Salzburg Festival in summer is one of the major international events for opera, theatre and concerts.

Outside the festival periods, the Großes Festspielhaus, the Mozarteum and other venues also host a wide range of orchestral concerts, chamber music and other performances.

Looking ahead to 2027

Mozart Week takes place from 21 to 31 January 2027. Under the theme “Mozart & Mozarts”, the festival brings together the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and works by composers who were described in their own time as “other Mozarts”.

Among the guest ensembles are the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Igor Levit, Víkingur Ólafsson and other international soloists are also part of the programme.

The Salzburg Easter Festival takes place from 20 to 29 March 2027 and celebrates its 60th anniversary.

At the heart of the programme is Richard Wagner’s “Die Walküre” with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Kirill Petrenko.

Kirill Serebrennikov directs the production, with Lise Davidsen as Brünnhilde.

The programme also includes orchestral and choral concerts as well as chamber music.

The programme for the Salzburg Festival in summer 2027 will be announced at a later date.
