Starting in January, the Mozart Week opens the cultural year around Mozart's birthday.

The festival season kicks off with the Salzburg Easter Festival.

The Salzburg Festival Summer 2026 will take place from 17 July to 30 August 2026.

Summer Festival 2026: Programme Overview

Opera, drama and concerts are at the heart of the Salzburg Festival summer, presented in a rich variety of artistic forms.

The opera programme includes Georges Bizet’s “Carmen”, Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”, Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos”,

Olivier Messiaen’s “Saint François d’Assise” and Rossini’s “Il viaggio a Reims”.

The drama programme features productions such as Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s “Jedermann”, Goethe’s “Faust I”,

Molière’s “The Misanthrope”, Elfriede Jelinek’s “Unter Tieren” and Peter Handke’s “Schnee von gestern, Schnee von morgen”.

The concert programme is equally high-calibre. In addition to the Vienna Philharmonic, the programme includes the Berlin Philharmonic with Kirill Petrenko, international guest orchestras, chamber concerts, song recitals and thematic concert series such as the Ouverture spirituelle and the Homage to György Kurtág.
