Sanremo Festival 2027 - An sumptuous experience of musical Italy

The Sanremo Festival is one of Italy’s most important music events and enjoys international renown.

Every year, it attracts music fans and well-known artists to the Italian Riviera. For five evenings, Sanremo becomes the centre of Italian pop music.

The festival will take place from 16 to 20 February 2027.

Five evenings at the Teatro Ariston

The Teatro Ariston is situated right in the centre of Sanremo and has been the festival’s venue since 1977.

For 2027, artistic director and presenter Stefano De Martino has redesigned the format of the festival.

A total of 24 artists will compete in a single competition category.

On Tuesday, 16 February, and Wednesday, 17 February, all 24 artists will present their competition entries.

Thursday, 18 February, will feature the Cover Night.

The artists will perform songs from the Italian or international repertoire together with Italian or international guest performers.

The evening will have its own voting and its own winner, but the result will have no bearing on who wins the Sanremo Festival.

A new addition for 2027 is the “Serata Performance” on Friday, 19 February.

All 24 artists will perform their competition entry once again, but with an interpretation or staging that differs from the other festival evenings. The winner will be decided by the public and a new international expert jury.

The winner of the Serata Performance will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.

The final of the Sanremo Festival will take place on Saturday, 20 February.

The overall ranking will take into account the results from the first, second and fifth evenings of the festival.

At the end of the evening, the winner of the Sanremo Festival 2027 will be announced.

For the first time in 2027, the decision on Italy’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest and the choice of the Sanremo Festival winner will therefore be separate.
