Santa Fe Opera 2026 – an operatic experience in the breathtaking natural surroundings of New Mexico

The Santa Fe Opera is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world. What makes it special is its open architecture: during the performance, you look out onto the mountains and evening sky of New Mexico instead of a closed theatre wall.

The summer festival season runs from 3 July to 29 August 2026. Five productions are on the programme during this period:

Eugene Onegin by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky
Rodelinda by George Frideric Handel
Lili Elbe by Tobias Picker

If you want to add variety to your stay in Santa Fe, we recommend a scenic train ride as a contrast to an evening at the opera: Sky Railway takes you along the historic route between Santa Fe and Lamy through the New Mexico countryside. On selected dates, there are formats such as ‘Opera on the Rails’, where live singing takes place on board while the vast landscape passes by outside. We think this is a very relaxing way to take in the opera atmosphere.
