Shop window Music tours in Berlin
Visiting SCHROPP Land & Karte
People sometimes call me ‘the man with the maps’. Even as a child, I used to spin globes and trace routes across oceans, mountains and cities with my finger. During my school days, later during my training as a travel agent, as a tourism specialist, as a team leader and
travel consultant, this became my guiding principle: providing orientation, finding ways, the right map for the right adventure and always the right music for the place. This is how travel becomes harmonious and personal.
Discover Music Travel Hideaways.
We are guests at SCHROPP Land & Karte at Knesebeckstraße 20/21, 10623 Berlin-Charlottenburg.
It is a pleasure to design a shop window for music tours. Walk with me past the shop window, through places, on stages and along special paths.
My music trips are more than just a collection of tickets...
The music trips are made up of many building blocks: places, accommodation, concerts, stories.
We put them together in a way that suits you. Maps are tools, support, not decoration. They give direction, distance and show possibilities.
How we plan our music trips
Anticipation and overview:
Before a route is finalised, maps are laid out on the table. We check the routes and distances, see where rehearsals will take place in the back garden, and which special concert venues will round off the trips or could be the focus of a trip.
Routes and timing:
We design special trips with insider tips, using maps to reveal the character of an island or city. Slopes, stairs, cobblestones and distances determine whether a walk before the concert will invigorate or tire us.
Original shortcuts:
On maps, we find the little ‘desire lines’, i.e. spontaneous footpaths to the best restaurant after the gig or to the riverside spot where a saxophone sounds particularly good in the evening.
Why SCHROPP is the perfect partner for us
SCHROPP Land & Karte is an institution in Berlin (and beyond). Its roots date back to 1742, when Nuremberg merchant Simon Schropp received permission from Prussian King Frederick II to trade in maps in Berlin. At that time, the emerging state needed precise topography; trade and science demanded reliable maps, and Schropp became the first port of call.
Over the centuries, it grew into a shop that is more than just a business: a navigator for travellers, researchers and explorers.
After eventful decades, indeed centuries, and several relocations, Regine Kiepert has been leading the company into the modern age since 1979, maintaining its claim to be the top address for maps, atlases, globes and travel books in Berlin.
Today, SCHROPP is located in the heart of Charlottenburg, offering unique advice that lives up to its name and a range of products that includes everything from hiking maps to historical atlases.
A shop window that takes you on musical journeys
Our shop window at SCHROPP shows how maps can be turned into real-life journeys. Lines become paths, dots become venues.
You can see photos of routes, marked viewpoints, small stages and places that make you want to go on musical journeys.
A big thank you to SCHROPP and Regine Kiepert for their cooperation and shared passion.
Without places like this, our anticipation would not be the same.
And to everyone who sees our shop window: lift your gaze from the street and look at the map, or rather, the shop window.
The rest is anticipation.
