Strasbourg - France

Soirée Sondheim at the Opéra national du Rhin

on 19 June & Fête de la Musique on 21 June 2026

The musical highlight

Two concert evenings that could hardly be more different.

On 19 June 2026, you can enjoy the ‘Heure lyrique – Soirée Sondheim’ at the Opéra national du Rhin. This ‘operatic hour’ is an evening of songs from various musicals by Stephen Sondheim, performed by the artists of the opera studio.

Two days later, the whole city is yours. On 21 June 2026, Strasbourg will be transformed into one huge stage for the Fête de la Musique. In squares, alleyways, in front of churches and in courtyards, you’ll find classical music, jazz, chanson and rock – and you’ll be right in the thick of it.

Discover Strasbourg

Start in Petite France, the city’s oldest quarter with its half-timbered houses right by the water. Take a stroll from there to the Grande Île, the old town island, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A must-see: Saint Thomas’s Church (Église Saint-Thomas). It is internationally renowned for its Silbermann organ from 1741, on which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played in public in 1778. The historic console is on display in the church.
