Toulouse - France

Concert trip with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Sir Antonio Pappano and Alexandre Kantorow

on 5 November 2026

The musical highlight

On 5 November 2026, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe begins its November tour in Toulouse. Sir Antonio Pappano conducts,

with Alexandre Kantorow at the piano.

The programme features two major works from the Romantic repertoire: Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1

and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.

The concert takes place at the Halle aux Grains, Toulouse’s historic concert hall. The unusual hexagonal building was originally a grain market and was converted into a concert hall in 1974.

Music Travel Hideaways Special: Exclusive rehearsal visit with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe

This trip begins two days before the concert, and there is a particular reason for that.

During your stay, you will have access to a rehearsal of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and experience the orchestra preparing for its concert at the Halle aux Grains on 5 November.

We will confirm which rehearsal you can attend with the orchestra shortly before your trip and will then let you know the exact time.

Discover Toulouse

The historic centre is pleasantly compact and much of it can be explored on foot. Toulouse owes its nickname, Ville Rose, to the characteristic pink brick façades that shape the cityscape.

Around the Place du Capitole, you will find cafés and small streets, while further south you reach the Garonne and the historic quarter around Rue des Couteliers. Toulouse also has another fascinating story that remains closely associated with the city today.

It was from here that the pilots of the French Aéropostale once departed on their pioneering flights to Africa and South America.

You will even find a connection to this history in one of our two selected hotels.

Choose your hotel in Toulouse

Le Grand Balcon ****

Directly on the Place du Capitole is a hotel closely connected with the history of Aéropostale. Pilots including Antoine de Saint-Exupéry were regular guests here. Saint-Exupéry stayed in room 32, which has been preserved as the Saint-Exupéry Suite.

The historic 1930s hotel was redesigned by French architect and designer Jean-Philippe Nuel. Its rooms and suites range from approximately 20 to 37 m².

The Halle aux Grains is around a 15-minute walk away.

Maison Soclo ****

Just a few steps from the Garonne, Maison Soclo occupies an 18th-century townhouse.

The rooms reflect the character of the historic building and range from 18 to 25 m². Depending on the category, they overlook the garden or offer views across the rooftops of Toulouse towards the Couvent des Jacobins and the Basilica of Saint-Sernin.

A lovely alternative for those who prefer somewhere a little quieter while still staying in the heart of Toulouse.
