Transatlantic crossing
Music on the high seas
When I think back to my last cruise, the first thing that comes to mind is leaving New York, followed by the turquoise waves of the Caribbean. Back then, I always had my favourite music at my fingertips, a playlist for this place and a playlist for that place. In any case, the playlist was filled to the brim with songs that were perfect for sunsets on the balcony, breakfast at sea or balmy evenings on deck.
To this day, these songs are like a souvenir that immediately brings back images of that trip.
Today, I would like to offer you a symphony that you can not only play on your smartphone, but also experience in the middle of the ocean: live, exclusive and embedded in the vastness of a sea voyage.
The Queen of the Seas
Among the ships of this world, there are icons, and the Queen Mary 2 is one of them. Simply majestic and like something from another era. It combines timeless elegance with modern sophistication, and its lines tell stories of an era when the sea was not just a route, but a stage.
On board, you immediately sense that this is not about speed. This is more than transport. It is a production. The soft light in the salons, the deep sound of the ship's horns, the subtle swaying of the floor beneath your feet – everything not only seems special, it is special.
Music is the heartbeat of the new journey
On our Music Travel Hideaways music cruises, the Queen Mary 2 is transformed into a floating concert hall. Whether it's two concert evenings with the British National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anthony Inglis or various live performances by artists who work with Abbey Road Studios...
Music is not an accessory on these cruises, but part of the experience.
It accompanies the ship like an invisible travel compass, adds melody to sunsets and makes encounters on board unforgettable.
Southampton - New York: The great crossing
The Atlantic crossing between Southampton and New York is one of the most legendary sea voyages of all time.
From the hills of England gradually disappearing on the horizon to the glamour of the New York skyline slowly emerging from behind the railing, a special itinerary unfolds: mornings with endless sea views, afternoons filled with music and conversation, evenings with a drink and the feeling of being part of a special community.
No hectic port changes, no daily packing of suitcases. Instead: deceleration.
Arrive and take something with you
The journey doesn't just end when you reach your destination. The music, the conversations, the views, they all stay with you. Sometimes, a single chord is enough to bring it all back: the gentle rocking of the deck, the laughter in the on-board café, the scent of the fresh Atlantic breeze.
Or you can't get enough – that's always the case for me – and you immerse yourself in New York, which city stands more for music and diversity of genres and offerings?
