Valletta Baroque Festival from 7 to 24 January 2027

The musical highlight

The Valletta Baroque Festival 2027 brings music to historic venues in Valletta and other parts of Malta from 7 to 24 January.

On 12 January 2027, you will hear violinist Charlie Siem at Teatru Manoel together with the Signum Saxophone Ensemble. The programme includes Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in an arrangement for violin and saxophones, as well as Henry Purcell’s Abdelazer Suite.

The following morning, Charlie Siem performs a Bach programme at Palazzo D’Aurel in Gudja. The historic palace is privately owned and is not normally open to the public. For this concert, its rooms are opened exclusively as part of the festival.

On 13 January, you will visit the Baroque St Helena Basilica in Birkirkara. There, Ensemble Jacques Moderne performs works by Alessandro Scarlatti and Domenico Scarlatti.

Valletta, the smallest capital city in Europe, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent palaces, narrow streets and charming cafés.

The Baroque Teatru Manoel is one of the oldest opera houses in Europe and provides a distinctive setting for concerts.

Take time to wander through Valletta’s narrow streets. The city is especially atmospheric in the early evening. A walk to the Upper Barrakka Gardens is well worth it: from there, you can look out across the Grand Harbour and immediately understand why Valletta developed as a fortified city.

We can arrange an excursion to Mdina, Malta’s former capital, or to the neighbouring island of Gozo, where you can visit the Citadella in Victoria and the prehistoric Ġgantija Temples, among other sights.

The Teatru Manoel is also just a few minutes away on foot.
